Many of the current board members played a large part in the grass roots movement that was the main force in the passage of legislation which provided the funding for the construction of the Cove Ridge Center. These same board members have spent countless hours volunteering their time to obtain funding, planning and presenting the special programs sponsored by all the councils. Without their efforts, the Cove Ridge Center would not exist. In addition to their support of the programs sponsored by the individual councils, the Cove Ridge Foundation and Advisory Board also sponsors the Papa Joe Smiddy Mountain Music Festival held on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend and in conjunction with Duffield Daze.
